Recently a friend and I met up at Micro Bar & Bites. It’s an intimate atmosphere that allows the choice to be a part of the social section of the restaurant, or if you prefer, be more private. One of my very favourite things is to have a lot of a little, as variety is the key to my happiness when it comes to trying new things and experiencing curated tapas style plates. You can be as adventurous as you’d like however there are plenty of options for those who feel like staying safely inside your box.
Everything we tried (and there were many plates!) was delicious. But the piece de resistance, the VIP, the icing on the cake for me, was this incredible drink called the Moscow Mousse. Now I assure you, I intended to only have one or perhaps two if it was good. But alas, the resistance was futile and I surpassed my 2 drink intention. To say this was the best drink of my life is an understatement.
At first glance, it sounded a bit strange – Tito’s handmade vodka, licor 43 (whatever that is), chai baba chai tea syrup, lime, fever tree ginger beer foam. It’s hard to picture what all of these flavours do when it hits your palate. Let me tell you from experience, the answer is ‘magic’. Whoever the genius puppet master of pours is who came up with this concoction, I salute you. Do yourselves a favour and head on down to Micro in Downtown Kelowna and have the best drink of your life…. and take a cab home because you won’t be able to have just one!
